Solo Cup Awarded Carbon Trust Standard
Solo Cup Europe has achieved the Carbon Trust Standard by taking real action to combat climate change within the business.
The leading cup manufacturer was able to reduce carbon emissions by 1% whilst during the same period growing the business by 20%.
Some of the projects that led to the national recognition included replacing leaking air fittings with more efficient designs, improved control of the factory compressed air systems and eliminating air leaks in all factory areas, the re-use of exhaust air in the Foam department and improving yields on machines to increase running efficiency.
Says VP for Innovation, Environment & Packaging Anne Sutton: “We’re extremely proud to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard. It’s a great external recognition for our achievements in carbon reduction and demonstrates our commitment to reducing carbon emissions year on year.”
The Carbon Trust Standard highlights those organisations that can be trusted to have genuinely acted on climate change and who are committed to ongoing emission reductions. The Standard requires companies to continue reducing their carbon emissions and to recertify every two years.
“It means we are committed to continue the great work & to keep reducing our impact on the environment. The Standard also shows we are taking action by reducing the carbon emissions that we are directly responsible for, rather than just paying others to off-set our emissions”, adds Anne.
