Solo Cup Europe Loves Where It Lives!

Some forty community-minded  employees at Huntingdon based Solo Cup Europe, now part of Dart Container, turned out for the firm’s summer   ‘Litter Pick’ across its 20 acre factory site.  The Litter Pick was timed to demonstrate support for the second national ‘Love Where You live’ Big Tidy Up, taking place across the country.  Staff downed tools and donned rubber gloves and litter grabbers and gave the site and its surroundings a thorough spruce up. 

VP for the Environment Anne Sutton said: “Although we’re a global business we work in a local environment and feel it’s our responsibility to ensure that environment is in the best possible shape.  This litter pick is just one of many actions that we undertake as a full member of our local community “

As part of the ‘Litter Pick’  employees at the Solo Cup Europe factory and offices on St Peter’s Industrial Park, donated an hour of their time  to  take part in various activities designed to demonstrate that the company ‘loves where it lives’.  Activities included a litter pick across the company’s four sites, weeding of hedges and paths, and a ‘big tidy up’ of the local area designed to show that the company really cares about its environment.

Managing Director Tony Waters, added: “We all have responsibility for our local environment.  This Litter Pick is becoming a regular feature on our company calendar and we know that people enjoy it and feel they are making a difference to our local community.  We’d like to encourage other businesses in the area to take part too!  Much of what we collected was recyclable so we will ensure that goes into the appropriate recycling stream.”
